About the CSS Transition Generator

The transition CSS property lets you define the timing of property changes. Instead of jumping instantly from one value to another, the browser interpolates smoothly over a duration you control. This generator lets you pick the property, duration, easing curve, and delay, then copy the result instantly.

Properties you can control

  • Property — Which CSS property should animate (or all for every animatable property).
  • Duration — How long the transition takes, in seconds.
  • Timing function — The easing curve: ease, linear, ease-in, ease-out, ease-in-out, or step functions.
  • Delay — Wait time before the transition begins, in seconds.

How to use

  1. Choose the property you want to animate.
  2. Set the duration with the slider.
  3. Pick a timing function for the easing curve.
  4. Adjust the delay if needed.
  5. Hover the preview box to see the transition in action.
  6. Click Copy CSS and paste into your stylesheet.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between transition and animation? A transition smoothly changes a property when its value changes (e.g. on hover). An @keyframes animation runs automatically with defined keyframes and can loop.

Can I transition multiple properties? Yes. You can comma-separate multiple transition definitions, e.g. transition: color 0.3s ease, transform 0.5s ease-in.

Why is my transition not working? Make sure the property is animatable (e.g. display cannot transition), the duration is greater than 0, and the property value actually changes.
